UCF launched its annual Space Game in 2017 to honor the university’s role in supporting the U.S. space program at Kennedy Space Center and in Central Florida. Since then, every UCF sport has embraced the tradition, with football’s Space Game highlighting university research in space exploration.
For 2024, the uniform theme, Powering Mankind's Return to the Moon, paid tribute to UCF’s Regolith Lab, where researchers study lunar and Martian soil. Inspired by NASA’s Artemis mission following Apollo’s path, the design featured nods to the 2017 uniform, particularly in the shoulder treatment, and debuted a new version of UCF’s primary logo in Canaveral Blue.
